If there's a cure for this,,,,,,,,

Are you thinking of switching teams? If this aint a sneak attack then welcome.

If it is a sneak attack then Id say that the anomaly that is Homers second pattern contains a further anomaly. The quick "instant hip acceleration" being the only thing in the book that is not "slow, deliberate and heavy". We hitters dont want it , dont need it. Not to sound like Donna Summer or anything.

On a more friendly note, I dont think things are necessarily as different as one tends to perceive at first. I imagine opposite ends of a "C" shaped continuum. The two ends are actually closer than the travel distance along the continuum, if you know what I mean. This is as deep as a Hitter can get. Im talking patterns seen in the field more than 12-1 or 2 maybe.

Know what you mean about startdown for the hitter ....case in point. I think the right shoulder has to take the whole shebang down plane for all of us, swinger or hitter. It can keep on going for the four barrel types or slow and act like a launching pad for the three barrel hitters thrusting right elbow. Even in non pivot strokes the right shoulder can be preset in a position that allows for an appropriate both arms straight position given the length of shot at hand. I do this in Basic, when short chipping or putting thanks to Yoda. I carefully align my both arms straight position then back the arms up to address with the right shoulder staying put in its Follow Through position. Making running out of right arm nearly impossible. I do it in Acquired too with a pivot, even in traps now too.....but I stop at both arms straight for short sand shots, Brian Gay style. Getting to both arms straight and hitting seem to go together. If I go back to swinging it will be with a definite attempt to get to both arms straight. I love it.

I think your right about start down being similar with the exception of hip acceleration, maybe. For full shots to keep the right shoulder back in Startdown is too court an over the top move or run out of right arm. It is for me anyways. I dont think you should Release #1 in startdown for full shots. Around the green maybe. Both patterns delay release when power is required. The swingers have their pretty little left hand wrist cock deal and hitters have their manly right arm. #1 as listed by Homer. Hitter's cock the right elbow going back, then store it until its release. Accumulate , Store and Release isnt that how it goes? Late Release for power, earlier for other higher, softer shots etc. One pattern employing the right elbow the other the left hand wrist cock.

But then again I could be way off plane on this. What do you make of it?

PS If you want to hang with us you've got to grip it tight enough that your hands get real dirty in all the right places. Luke says to leave your finger prints on the handle. My bad rounds have my hands as clean as a whistle, so Im checking them all the time now. Gett'n a little dirt on my hands and loving the way it feels....... compression plus.
