His swing kind of reminds me of Monty's.

Especially the last few frames- thru impact and to the finish.

Is it just me or does his swing not look anything like what he teaches in his book?

Three great points, Edz:

Rhythm -- The Closing Gate (the Left Arm and Club) as driven by (or through) the Right Elbow.

Extensor Action -- Power Package structure via the Right Triceps stretch of the Left Arm.

Full Body Impact -- Downstroke Momentum Transfer from the Rotor (Body) into the Blade (Left Arm and Club).

Edz is right on but Yoda includes us and takes us with him. A few extra strokes on the canvas can make it a masterpiece.

Wedgeboy, I agree

Mike Austin's swing sequence doesn't look anything like what is taught on the CD, except for the pendulum hip motion. It doesn't look like a throw from the top, and it looks like the lag is created, increased and held very late; exactly what Dunaway says doesn't happen.

Picture vs. Reality

Austin, Shauger, and Dunaway all say they are releasing from the top in a underhand motion.....right hand under left and OMG . Left wrist breaking down.......somewhat anti TGM.....

I think back to Thomasello's letter series videos where he says release the club from the top......but on video it will look like one is delaying the hit.
Perhaps the video frame by frame gives a false impression, as TT alluded to back in the day.

Where is the right hand on the club? Under the left. Another "seems to be." Austin felt like he threw ubnderhanded. A CF uncocking and roll might feel like an underhand motion to some, especially to someone a little flip and talking from a feel. He might be blocking or holding (STEERING) a HH into a vertical hinge alignment.

And his early release, like a sweep release isn't a casting move. It is a steady release to the Store position then into impact. He feels like he does, talks like he does, but his clips show something different.

Homer said never listen to what they say- watch what they do.

Every Austin sequence or clip I have, he looks different.
