This is a sequence I made a while back ......

Austinology
I had a lesson with Mike Austin three years ago. He taught the Slide then Turn Back Stroke Hip move. You can definitely see it in that sequence.

Why
do people here reference him when in his video he teaches casting/throwaway of the club? I know he doesn't in HIS swing, but that is obviously his swing thought that he tells other's to think about.

Mike Austin has one of the best patterns you'll ever see, and his approach to teaching it is very straightforward (Secrets from the Games Longest Hitter).
Throw away can happen if the pivot doesn't work properly. 'trying' to throw with a proper pivot (sequence) supporting the motion can lead to a great feel for lag pressure if the throw is in the proper direction (downplane to both arms straight). Austin uses an 'uncock' then 'roll', such that when he talks about 'throwing' the club, it is the 'uncock' that he is talking about, the 'roll' is imparted by the pivot. An underhanded pitch motion. |
Isn't uncocked (acc#2) and then roll (accum#3) the sequence in any swing?
The secret to Austin's length is his raw strength- period. The man had an athletes raw power- that you can't teach. The swing is sound but don't aspect every student of his to be super bombers because of it. Better, yes - but not supermen. |
