Fairway Bunkers
Not sure is this is in the proper forum.
Any tips on long fairway bunker shots 150-200 yds?? Thanks |
always take two clubs more than you need from the same distance with a good, level, lie (assuming you can get over any lip, which is always the first issue)
choke down one 'wrap' keep your lower body stable, accelerate smoothly hold your finish |
Re: Fairway Bunkers
You hear a lot of people say stuff like "you must hit the ball first", or "keep your weight towards the target". But, if you're doing it correctly in the first place, you should bit hitting the ball first anyway!
So, my suggestion is, just swing as you would normally. When I say normally, I’m assuming you have a 3-dimensional impact, direct thrust downwards, etc. None of this move ball backwards, etc. nonsense, unless you want to produce special effects. |
The trick with the long bunker shot is BALANCE.....so that means more of an "armsy" swing than one with a lot of pivot. Put too much pivot and you'll move around in the sand too much and you could throw your low point all over the place

E ELS was once mentioned in his video,
Have more weight at the rear foot, and hit up on it. I presume his meaning with Hit up, is having a normal stroke is just put more weight at the back. Most people are having problem with their bunker shot are Balance - hit fat, to much of a motion and over acc. Rythum - fail to feel the club head lag pressure |
Dig your feet in good in the sand to get a stable base..........
