Straight line delivery path

After watching Mr. Blakes video about dowels and flying wedges, I went to the course with one swing thought for the day, a straight line delivery path of the hands. I had my best ball striking day ever. Unfortunately, the weather has turned bad and I haven't been able to play again. I have been able to practice at home and work on this some more and my ball striking has gone downhill. Confusion is probably the reason. My immediate thought of this delivery path was that it was more suited to hitters, I'm a swinger in a hitters body, and am thinking that on that first day I was hitting without thinking about it.
Any thoughts?

Where are your hands at the top of your backswing?

Hands

I take about a 3/4 backswing, putting my hands on line to be above my right shoulder, a little closer to my head, and employ a swingers start up swivel.

Your question is a good one in my opinion. As you know The Golfing Machine is all about the hands. "The Hands must ALWAYS take one of the Delivery Paths (10-23) but even with the Circle Path, the Thrust is still a straight-line EFFORT toward the Aiming Point. Even “Tracing” (5-0) must not disrupt it."

AND "Learn to SWING THE HANDS, MONITOR THE HANDS. Some players use the Club only to develop its TOTAL equivalent in Lag Pressure Point Feel. That is – until the Hands no longer consciously Monitor the Clubhead or the Body – only themselves, and automatically dictate total Component compliance with Delivery Path (6-E) and Delivery Line (2-J-3) requirements (7-23). Both are Monitored by the Hands but the Delivery Lines, in addition, must be “Traced” by the Right Forearm."

Your question is on Straight Line Delivery PATH of the HANDS . . .

10-23-A STRAIGHT LINE This pattern holds the Hands on a Delivery Path that is a Straight Line leading from the Top-of-the-line hand position directly at and through the Aiming Point (2-J-3).

CHECK YOUR TOP AND YOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST YOUR AIMING POINT

My interpretation of the above and experience is that the Straight Line Delivery Path works better from a Backstroke ending at TOP rather than END. You may want to be sure that your hands are ONLY going to the "Top-of-the-line position" which is basically where the Line Delivery begins . . . 3/4's Shoulder High. Check out the pics in Chapter 10. You can see where the line portion of delivery begins.

Keep this end mind in terms of your Backstroke being long or short . . .

The long Backstroke Shoulder Turn produces CIRCLE Path (10-23-E) and ARC of Approach procedures. The short Shoulder Turn produces “LINE” types of Delivery Path (10-23) and “ANGLE” of Approach procedures (2-J-3). So – if the Shoulder Turn is too great and takes the Hands inside the proper Angle of Approach (2-J-3), then you must shift to an Arc of Approach Delivery Line to “clear the Right Hip” (2-J-3). Or get an unwanted Pull. OR A SHANK. Otherwise, the Three Dimensions will become un-correlated including Compression Leakage (2-C-0) and an obvious struggle. As it goes back, so it tends to come down – because of the differences in Loading Characteristics (Components 11, 19, and 22).

Since you are a Swinger, you may be ending at End rather than Top. So study the following with the Pics in the book . . . in relation to where your Backstroke ends.

10-23-B ANGLED LINE This pattern is used with the Plane Angle Variation that include a shift to (or back to) the Elbow Plane during the Downstroke.

From the Top-of-the-Straight-Line hand position the Hands take a nearly vertical path to the Plane of the Elbow Angle before they start their drive directly at and through the Aiming Point (2-J-3).

10-23-C TOP ARC AND STRAIGHT LINE This pattern takes the Hands beyond the Top-of-the-Line point, up and back along an Arc that is retraced when the Hands return to the Top-of-the-Line point. This “retracing” is ideal for longitudinal acceleration with 10-19-C.

10-23-D TOP ARC AND ANGLED LINE This path is the same as “C” above except that from the Top-of-the-Line position the Hands take the Angled Line Delivery Path (“B” above).

That's what the book has to say . . .

But basically take your hands to shoulder height (top-of-the-line delivery path), stop, apply extensor action then Swing or Hit down and through your aiming point. Over and over and over and over . . . This is the downstroke waggle . . . Dr. Collards prescription will work wonders for what's ailing you.

Thank you, I was never really sure what the downstroke waggle was.

your swing/hit

If your swing/hit is as good as your knowledge, I'd like to watch you hit balls for about an hour. :)

Not that smart man! I'm the dude that typed the book into a Word File. I can do a search and pull anything. On this one I did a search on Path . . . and pow got all this stuff.

Mr. K had the knowledge I just know how to type and search . . .

It's pretty cool because you can see how all the stuff comes together.

Now my ball beating that's another story . . . I came to see Yoda and met you too last January when we had all that nice weather. My move has definitely improved. But you won't be seeing me on TV anytime soon!
