How Hinge action and Ball Position relate

Ok, I have a pretty good understanding of hinge action, but can someone explain to me how hinge action and ball position relate.

I'm guessing that with a horizontal hinge action you can place the ball further back in your stance and stil hit a straighter shot due to the more rapidly closing clubface. Where as a back ball position with an angled hinge is more likely to result in a push.

And with Angled Hinge, you can place the ball more foreward in your stance with less fear of going left, due to the fact the face is closing at a slower rate. Where as a horizontal hinge with a too foreward ball position will result in more of a pull.

Can someone who is more knowledgeable than me, verify this?

Thanks
