Left Hand Grip - Fingers?
 

I am experimenting with a change in my left hand grip, and wanted feedback on the value of placing the club, diagonally across the first 3 fingers and into the hand, just above the pinky finger.

As opposed to in the palm aka "Hogan Grip"

I can't speak for veteran TGM'ers, but if I understand you correctly about your experimetation, the grip feels slightly loose under the heel pad for me right where one would wear out a glove..I bet most people play with something like you describe and in turn wear out their gloves..But if you can hit it 300 yards =D> with that grip, then I would keep it for now..However I'm guessing the others wouldn't like it and maybe that's why no one has responded..

Nice picture Okie...That's the pinch/fulcrum point under the heel pad and below the palm that I feel too..That's why I wasn't 100% sure I understood 300Drive clearly in reference his mental picture Hogan's palm grip

Perfect! The picture shows exactly what I am NOT doing now. In this picture, the club is only in the index finger and not in any of the other fingers; it rests in the hand/palm above the remaning 3 fingers. I know that works for many and am not "questioning its value."

My question is, what if its held "lower" and into the first 3 fingers, and in the hand just above the pinky finger, or lower pad of the hand?

Again, not questioning the Hogan grip, just seeking feedback on alternatives ways of holding the club that may work even better for some players. What are the implications of playing with a grip thats not higher in the hand, rather, is in the fingers of the left hand?

I think you will find that once the fingers in the illustrated "Hogan" grip are closed, the handle lays more or less across the crease of the fingers where they meet the palm; rather than diagonally across the palm itself.

......that was my thinking as well, but, wanted confirmation. If you grip it "literally" the way its normally depitcted in Hogan's book.....it sucks!
