Back to TGM....why did I wait so long?
My first post, so please be gentle. I started playing about 30 years ago, while in my mid twenties. I was lucky to start out wtih lessons from a TGM certified instructor who had taken some lessons from Ben while going to college in the US (I'm from Canada). After about a year and some really great improvements (I was about an 8 hcp in a year), my instructor started trying to get ready to try qualifying school and took some lessons from a local pro who had a great reputation for producing stars. Anyways, the pro was a Ballard disciple and wanted my teacher to forget staying centered and get a lot more lateral movement. Unfortunately, this pretty much ruined my teacher's game and he ended up taking a club job some distance from where I live. For most of the next 3 decades, I was lucky enough to play to a very low handicap, but was extremely inconsistent to say the least. During this time, I took lessons from a variety of instructors who all seemed to struggle to explain things the way my first teacher had. I am analytical by nature and would ask what I thought were simple questions that they couldn't address. I'm not sure why, but one day it occurred to me to look at the copy of Homer's book that my first teacher had given me. To say a light went on would be a gross understatement. From there, I went to the other source of all knowledge (the internet!) and found someone who has improved my game more in 2 years than all the work I did in the previous 28 or so. Anyways, anyone looking for a GSED in Canada who is an amazing instructor, coach and all round great guy, check out Monte Harris in Kelowna, BC.

Lynn loves to hear from other TGMers, and those who teach the work of Homer. You are a welcome addition, and it would be fun to hear from your teacher as well!!! Kevin |

Okay if I brag a bit about my game here ?
In my first post back in April, I was celebrating my success since committing to LB's Golf Alignment DVD's in Nov. 2011. I won my first three tournaments of 2012, dropped my index from a 9.8 to a 5.2 and garnished over $500. in cash.
More recently, I aced our par 3 - 14th hole and won our 3 day member / guest tournament. I'm a BELIEVER in LB / TGM !!. An interesting note about the hole in one, I watched LB's video on hitting a low tragectory shot before going out to play. When I reached our 14th hole, the wind was in my face and also cutting a bit from right to left. I selected a 4 iron, placed in back in stance and remembered to swing out as well as down. Wow!, I just nutted it and the ball flew precisely on my intended line. The tournament win last weekend was another LB lesson put to use under pressure. There was a 4 hole play-off for the 6 flight winners. My partner and I tied with another pair after 4 and forced a sudden death play-off hole to determine the champion. In a true alternate shot format, I had the approach shot on our par 5 18th from 60 yards out. The wind was blowing at me and there was about 50 drunk players in the gallery screaming encouragements and what nots. I played a 58 degree slightly forward with an open vertical hinge. The ball landed 3 feet past the hole and sucked back to 4 inches. The uphill approach blocked my view but apparently the gallery thought the ball was going in the hole !! The tap in birdie sealed the deal and we were victorious. I owe so much of my recent success to Lynn Blake, the DVD's and the help I get from this forum. Golf is fun again !! Thanks again to Lynn Blake. Cheers ! |

Handicap down from 9.2 11/2011 to 4.9 7/2012. One ACE this spring and now 4 tournament wins. Thank you again Lynn Blake and to the many who contribute on this site. OB Left, I printed out and review your comments from this site on 7.22.2012 "YOU MUST ROLL". Man it's golden and changed my golfing world!! Only two birdies today but honestly should have had at least 5. I'm on a ROLL and I love it !! |
