It is not hard to turn the face ON PLANE to the top and keep a flat left wrist. LESS MOVING PARTS.

Downward- of course. SO simple but few do it. Where's the ball? (Down)

Home run- I use to think he was teaching a Horizontal Hinge but that unflat cupped left wrist is closer to a a swivel into impact leading to a chicken wing. I don't think he does that in his swing he showed at the end- his wrist is flat and doesn't mention it inn the clip. INCOMPLETE

A FLAT LEFT WRIST is the foundation to everything. If you cup at the top you MUST Flatten it before impact. You cannot get out of Hackerville with a cupped left wrist.
I don't disagree with you 6B, but while more complicated, a cupped left wrist can be an extra amount of 'throw away prevention' in the hands of a skilled player (Hogan), because the move from cupped to flat into impact is moving from a position of throw away, to one of a flat left wrist and hence prevents any chance of throw away. A swivel into impact, yes.

Again, in the hands of a skilled player, and with more 'doing' and less efficiency, wedges out of place, for most of the motion etc, etc.... Not ideal, but if going left is your problem (Hogan) a useful way to ensure you don't do it. The 'roll', combined with the physics of a true 'swing' will get you back to flat 'if' release point/Rhythm are correct.

A useful way to help teach getting to a flat left wrist at impact, but by NO means the end of the story - a step along the path that many need in their motions to get to the next level (wedges staying in place/power package structure).

agree, but my point was that AJ NEVER explained that it goes back to Flat (like his swing) at impact. In fact he gives the impression that it stays cupped throughout the swing- which it can't to be successful- during the slo-mo instruction. Looked like a prelude to a chicken wing. That wrist was far from vertical to the Hinge Action.

Couples cups but his grip is very strong. Hogan cupped a lot less than he is made out to be. Lee bows. Els is Flat as a board. All are dead Flat at impact. AJ's Flying Wedges are busted.

Still far easier to turn the hands On Plane then to time a "cup to uncup" through impact.

Incomplete instruction as I see it. But that is what is out there.

Good post....(this is part of it).....

I'll just say.....that anything's possible.....but then again....if you ARE a hacker (prolly a slicer).....a bent wrist isn't helpin you.
