Sorry guys but I will soon be, if not already, totally lost in this thread. No offense intended. Some very good points.

Patrick,

Is not the "great" Jedi Master speaking about putting and comparing it to a simple Hitting Procedure in the quote you are pointing to? Thus, why would anyone desire a dual horizontal anything? If putting is at the crux of the Hinge Action in the post, and long putter is the example, no matter where it is anchored, why would one desire anything other than Vertical Hinge (Coincides with Homer)?

I have a feeling though, that clarity will soon be given.

Help has arrived! icon_biggrin.gifBut how did you know?

In the post, I made the point that Dual Horizontal Hinge Action (10-5-D), whilea sound procedure and extremely accurate, is simply more difficult to reproduceconsistently (with the Putter) than the automatic Angled Hinge Action (10-10-C)produced by the Push Basic Stroke.

As to why a Player would use "dual" anything, the answer is that, other than with Angled Hinging (10-10-C), you need two hinges: the first(either a Horizontal (10-10-A) or Vertical Hinge (10-10-B) to control theclubface alignment through Impact and the second (an Angled Hinge) tomaintain the Sweetspot on the Inclined Plane of Motion. For all practicalpurposes, there is no application for the Horizontal (only) Hinge Action(10-10-A) and the Vertical (only) Hinge Action (10-10-B). They are classifiedas variations only because they constitute the basis of their Dual Hingecounterparts.

Therefore, when you refer to the Vertical Hinge in your quote, you are actuallyreferring to the Dual Vertical Hinge Action (10-10-E). And why not just usethat? Be my guest!

Each of the three Hinge Actions are equally accurate when executed properly. Myreference to the use of Dual Horizontal Hinge Action with the Putter was solelyto illustrate that one sound procedure may sometimes be more difficult toexecute consistently than another.
