Late July flew from Pittsburgh to Atlanta on my way to visit my daughter at Auburn Univ.---as expected, my clubs went with me. Usually I watch the TSA guys go through my clubs and make sure they secure everything again, in spite of them telling me to "go to the gate, we'll take care of everything." So, my wife was making fun of me for watching them and I decided to just go to the gate. Upon arrival in Atlanta I find--the top strap of my ClubGlove Burstproof bag was never fastened, they never really approximated the zippers (about 4 inch gap), and never put the lock back on. How nothing fell out or wasn't stolen is beyond me. Anyway, I'm considering just making myself a nice component set for travel play so my Pings,etc. don't disappear or get damaged. Anyone else do this, or do you just take your "good stuff"?? Thanks---Dr Dave
There is a wonderful shop near me- Second Swing. Lots of second hand clubs 'sets' and many differently shafted clubs to shaft test with. I think they are a chain.
I have a set of sticks (barrel found Hogans) in FLA near the in-laws and a set (my first set I made) in San Diego near my sister in law but I have yet to get to them. My wife promises- hahaha.
It is a good idea if you have family but to be honest, I would be lost without my current set. I love them.
All over the world there more or are organized luggage stealing going on in airports. We had a huge scandal at the Stockholm airport a few years ago where some staff where regulary opening bags & grabbing whatever items they liked.
So padlocks is a good idea.
In the US airport security staff will cut the padlocks on the cover if they think the contents is anything they want to take a look at.
Since I do not want to buy new padlocks all the time I seal the zippers with plastic straps used for electrical cables. Easy to cut for the security staff but I know if someones been inside.
In other places I have never had anyone requesting me to remove the padlocks when checking in.
