I believe you have the option to use all three stance lines with the angle of approach. However the closed/closed plane/stance line is most compatible. but you have the dilemma of not having a reference to the target. If you elect to use the closed/square option at least your feet are parallel to your target line. If you choose the closed/open relationship it is difficult to cover the angle of approach all the way to low point because you sometimes run out of right arm unless you exagerate the down plane motion of the right forearm. But as Homer says, you have options.
