Junior Champions
I was invited by one of my junior champions to the Atlanta Junior Golf Association annual banquet.
Buster Bruton asked me to be there, because he knew that he was receiving the 2008 Player of the Year, in the 12 & under group. I was very excited for him and his family and was honored that he wanted me to be there. Much to our surprise, he not only won Player of the Year, but he also won the award for 2008 Lowest Stroke Average. This included all players during the entire season. He was not aware that he was receiving the second award, so that was a nice surprise. This was just the first surprise of the evening.
Another one of my juniors, Blaire Minter, won the 2008 Player of the Year honor for the girls 18 and under. I saw her name listed on the program, but I had no idea that she had returned from college to receive the award. She also left with additional hardware, as she received her award as the 2008 Grand Champion. This was for winning the season ending event in the oldest age group. Blaire now attends Western Carolina, where in her first tournament she won as a true freshman. There were 16 schools at the event. When she won, the coach could barely contain himself. When he called her grandfather to tell him, he was almost in tears.
Not only can they play golf, they are great kids. I couldn't be more proud of them.

Ambitions
When I grow up, I want to play as good as Buster and Blair.
Congratulations to the Players and Instructor.

Busting is hitting?
congrats! You are "hitting" the junior ranks pretty hard! Curious to know how much TGM theory Buster knows? Is he aware of the components to his pattern, or is he just doin' it? How do you know the right mix, Ted?

Buster knows many of the basic-basics, i.e. FLW, SPL, LPP. But, he has no need, right now, for terminology. He knows Hinge Actions and how to use different Plane Lines. For a 12 year old to shoot in the 60's, it requires a multitude of shots.
We totally changed his putting, which he really needed. As an 11 year old, he was finishing with the putter above eye level. I think this was the biggest breakthrough this year. But, he's getting bigger and stronger. These changes matched with his changes in geometry have him killing it.
