Fitting Cart

Is there a way for a non-PGA pro to acquire a used or new fitting cart? I'd like to acquire one.

Different manufactures have different carts. What kind of cart are you looking for?

The first criteria would be a cart that I could acquire without a minimum sales quota - as that's not going to happen where I live. Given that criteria - how would I acquire one. From there I'd love to learn about fitting, carts, the best, the worst, the pros the cons. Also, since there are a lot of left hand players here- how many carts come with right and left handed heads?

Write a Letter to Ping. Tell them what you're trying to do. With this economy, they must have dozens and dozens laying around and with their continuous Update philosophy, you may pick up a "two year old" fitting cart in excellent shape for cheap or maybe shipping costs.

I hit a G10 Driver today. Wow, easy. Old Man Clubs. Should be a good fit for the Guys in Maine. Tell Karsten and John that you'll all be playing Pings within a year.

The cart shown in the picture is a very limited production. In fact, my sales rep only has 1 for his territory. They will start to produce more of them but for now they are not just "laying around".

Ping is very particular about who gets a cart so I would probably look elsewhere.

Even though I am not with Henry-Griffitts anymore, they still offer the most options for both right and left handed players, as well as the most options for length and lie angle. The only company to offer a warranty on their clubs.

I would be happy to offer more information, just let me know what your intentions are and I can lead you in the right direction.

The Golf Industry is nosediving faster than a B52 Bomber out of fuel and people simply aren't playing as much golf as three years ago.

I don't mean to insult anyone, but when Golf Clubs are laying around collecting dust in the big Golf Stores, then Custom Fitting Carts are laying around collecting dust too.

I know that Golf Courses are struggling and it may be better in Georgia than elsewhere in the country. My Club, a 50 million dollar Clubhouse and Golf course Complex had 80 players with reserved times teeing off all day. Dismal. "Rabito", the contracted coach at the Learning Center is starting to give Free Lessons with Free Video analysis. Wow. I went to "Galaxy Golf to buy some gloves the other day and they had to find someone to work the cash register. I could hear a pin drop on the carpet. They have plenty of fitting carts laying around.

I hate to thread jack a Mike O thread but............

There's a lot of lefties up here in Canadia ( I hear that a lot so I thought id use it here). Lefty golfers are like every where. The reason doesnt lie in the Newfy screatch we all drink, but rather in old time hockey stick fitting, if you will. When I was a kid if you were right handed they taught you to shoot left. I bucked the trend and shot right. On most every team I played for I was virtually the only right hand shot. Anyways as these guys got older and took up golf they naturally sought out left handed clubs.

Today however things are different. More righties than lefties playing hockey. A trend I imagine that will make its way into the golfing population eventually. Especially with my Maple Leafs who seem to want to play golf as soon as they can every spring.

The fact that you belong to that nice of a club and chose to buy your gloves and other product from an off-course store is one of the major problems with the industry today.

You should support your club, period. If they can't offer you the product you want then ask them to special order it. Don't give me the price excuse either because if your club is that nice I am sure they have enough staff to cater to your needs that ultimately demands that you support them.

I'll bet you never have to find someone in your golf shop to work the register. In fact, I'll bet there are at least two people in there at all times to ensure that the members are taken care of. This is why you should always shop there.

On another note, please do not mistake a "fitting cart" for a "demo cart". Fitting carts provide tools to the "professional" to expertly fit the student in a manor that will allow them to improve. "Demo Carts" provide clerks the appearance that they are fitting when in fact they are not doing much. Let me know if you even understand the difference between the two.

By the way, the club sales at my facility are higher than they have ever been because I integrate fitting into my lesson programs. People still have money to spend, they simply want service that a discount store can't provide. Fitting carts require commitment from both sides, both in time and money. If they are "laying around" collecting dust than that is the seller's fault for not creating a learning and buying environment.

I use a special brand of golf glove that the Pro-shop doesn't sell. It's called "Footjoy". Have you heard of it? They haven't it seems. But anyway, they're getting out of the Golf Club selling Business and began selling more clothing years ago. Everything they sell has their LOGO on it. Don't you hate that?

What's up with Golf Clubs today? They have more Receptions than any 10 wedding halls.
