I have notice good players twirl the iron just before address in the ball. No one that I have asked seems to have a reasonable explanation for it.
My theory is that these players are trying to get FEEL the type of PP in their hands or armpits by twirling (or is it twurling?) the club. I think twirling the club around the hands makes the grip pressure less tight and places the correct PP for the type of shot one is anticipating to to get ready for.
Has anyone ever used this technique? If so can you tell me if you are trying to FEEL a certain PP.
I notice Tiger untwirl club in the follow through. Maybe along the same lines it's to get the last shot's PP memory out of one's mind and start "fresh"
Comments?
