Chris

I think putting is mostly mental....I mean....you need a good stroke....but that's not so hard in itself I think....it's making it repeat under pressure....

John...?

Mathew 09-02-2006 12:50 AM

I thought I would make a sequence of Johns 'old' stroke

Here it is

It looks like he's made good improvement from the sequence above....

Wow!

The internet allows access to so many viewing possibilities if you have access to a credit card and some privacy... you can buy almost anything - or so I have been told!:laughing9

BUT

you just can not buy this kind of stuff anywhere i have ever seen! intimate tour pro - teacher one-on-one action!!

AND

its free, a gift! Nowhere else have i seen this kind of stuff. In no way does John need to do this -ie. put up his swing for all to see - but it is just wonderful to watch. THANK YOU.

Same goes for Lynn and Brian.

It would be so much easier to have done all of this behind closed doors ( like Tiger) and made the swing changes away from the public gaze - but you all stand there in the limelight! :salut: THANK YOU. We actually get to see the metamorposis taking place!

PRETTY BUTTERFLY!

Weapons in the Desert

You should try Johns secret weapon next time you are in the bunker. Pay close attention to the video.

I've been using it for a while and have to sometimes remind myself to double check my grip alignment to clubface as part of the setup routine. I worked on it last year with Lynn and was thrilled to see it also used by John.

The setup will feel funny at first, but the results are automatic. You don't have to worry about manipulating the clubface through the shot, unless you want to.

Try it with all hinge actions to see the variety of ballflights.

Very Nice!!

If any of you don't realize how good these videos are... well, they are good.

John,
Do you take your video camera out when you practice alone, if you practice alone, or do you just usually look at video with your instructor present?

Thanks,

lagster

no,i dont use video.rob was out a few weeks ago and we never used it.although we spent most of our time working on shortgame.99% of the time when i get out off line it is the same old habits so it is usually easy to correct.i dont even really practice much,i just hit balls before i play and that is all i hit.

john riegger 09-06-2006 11:25 PM

pretty cool matthew.is the anyway to put anew and current swing in swing sequence?i would like to see for myself.by the way those swings where from 04 and i was having my best year until i broke my shoulder.i had made over 400,000.00 through the florida swing.just shows us that there is alot more to playing golf than having a good swing.that year i was putting so much better.pretty obvious from looking at these photos.thanks matthew great work.

Do I have this right?

Weak single action grip, open-open setup, ball positioned at low point?

Bagger Lance 09-07-2006 11:30 AM

Sounds Good

This is what I do and I don't see much difference in the way John does it. I just wish I did it as well! :)

Your new plane line is parallel to your stance line.
Open your clubface to the target line, take your grip and feel like the #3 pressure point is slightly above the back of the shaft. You are rotating both the left and right hand slightly counterclockwise (looking down) as John shows on the video. It sometimes feels like your #3 PP is right on top of the shaft, but it's not. Carry more weight on the target side, right forearm pickup and splash the ball out.
Try all of the hinge actions and let us know what you think.

very good explanation bagger, but remember that this is a specialty shot from the bunker.

Under what conditions would this set-up be the right option?

I didn't get that from the vid.

Felt different all right, but results were automatic as previously mentioned. Felt wierd though, kinda like wrist only start-up but through the ball/sand was great.

well you could not use it from deep bunkers.it is good for 20-30 ft shots.plenty off green to work with, for me it comes out soft and starts to roll like a putt.although i probably play harder and faster greens.on soft slow greens you can use it almost all the time.remember to use horizontal hinge action only.
