1. Almost any catalogued Component change will simplify it.

Following three hours of discussion, demonstration, correction and testing, I would very much agree that Ben Still prefers the Basic Four Accumulator Pivot Stoke. Maximum Hip Action and a lot of right arm.

I passed the Set-Up Pre-Shot Routine Test, the Sand Trap Test, the Impact Bag Test and the Tire Test (with flying colors I might add). I failed the Tee Angled in Ground Test. Ben said that if I can’t pass that test, then there is no need to continue until I can. But being the gracious and sympathetic teacher he is, we continued anyway.

During Hour #4 I got it. Ben said: “Hit it straight” and I did. He said: “Let me see a six foot fade at 160 yards with the six iron”, and I did. He said: “now give me a six foot draw” and I did. “Hit it high, and I did. Hit it low, and I did. He said Punch shot, and I punched it. He said “Pitch it” and I pitched it. Angled Hinging, Duel Horizontal and Vertical. He said: “Very good compression”. Ok, I’m a Ball Striker.

I went out that afternoon and shot one of the worst scores in my life. Hmm? Typical. Life. Ya gotta see the humor in it all. LOL.

Now; if I can only remember how I did it with Ben. (Oh, the DVD)

It's the hardest damn thing.

Take a Tee and push it into the ground at a 45 degree angle toward the target and so that only the top of the tee is visible. Using a Chip Shot (not basic motion) knock the tee the remaining way into the ground without touching a single blade of grass until after you strike the Tee.

Ben could do it with his eyes closed. Really, he did. And many times.

It's a test to prove if you have any added hand motion. If you add any, even the slightest hand motion, you can't do it. #3 Pressure Point is Aiming and the Pivot is moving the Arms-Hands.

When I contacted Ben in 1994, I asked him about the use of the right arm....Ben mailed to me the 4 stroke patterns from the 3rd edition. The 4 barrel pattern contains swinging components.

Could someone post Ben's prefered pattern for those of us who don't have the 3rd edition?

Dave,
I'm not 6b but his post seems clear to me. He is saying that
1) When you respond to someone's post with "Whatever???" It is interpreted as immature, unprofessional, degrading, etc.

2) He's tired and doesn't want to be involved in any post where anyone is promoting right arm swinging as the best and most wonderful and left arm swing is something less. Or put another way on the wider level - any post where a certain pattern or TGM proponent like Tomasello is held above everything or everybody else. Finally, he's saying that there is a Billy Joel song that kind of points this attitude out- I have no idea which one- maybe "Uptown Girl".

3) And Yes in regards to your original question, he has taken a lesson from Ben Doyle in person.

Hope that helps you in understanding what he was saying. Bear in mind that's my interpretation and therefore if I mistated something we couldn't hold it against 6B, as it is possible that I may have missed a specific point here or there. But my post gets you close enough.

I don't have the third edition, but I think the pattern is this based on the one lesson I had with him:

1 A
2 B
3 B
4 D
5 E
6 A
7 C
8 A
9 A
10 D
11 D
12 A
13 A
14 A
15 A
16 A
17 A
18 A
19 C
20 E
21 C
22 C
23 D
24 E

If any of the components should be different, I'm sure somebody will correct it.
