Video Error Messages
 
You may have experienced error messages when accessing videos either directly from a link, or via the Gallery page. Your media player may start to load and then give you a message that the source file is not supported.
The cause of this is due to a sharing of information between your web browser and the media player program. Specifically, a cookie is set when you login that shows you are a registered user. If you don't check the "remember me" box when you log in, then the cookie doesn't get set.
So the solution is to check the "remember me" box at login and the video should play without error.

Bagger,
On a slightly different note... I have no problem with anything in the gallery, whether movies or pictures BUT I can't see many of the pictures that are posted... particularly ALL the pictures from Annikan.... what might be the cause?

Thats an odd one. Most of those pictures are actually links to another server. They aren't hosted on our site. Anyone can post a picture by simply linking to a picture hosted on another site. Let's work on that one psheehan. Send bambam and I the details of your computer setup. OS version, browser version, etc. and we'll work on it. We need everyone receiving the full benefits from this site.

Send Bambam and I the details of your computer setup via PM and we'll try to help you get things up and running. If you are windows based, it always helps to make sure you have your service packs up to date and you are running the latest release of Windows Media Player.

Last night I tried and it worked OK. I can view around 10 lessons before an error happened. I will try it again tonight and will report back.

I re-rendered chapter 10. Look for the version 2 (v2) copy in the gallery.

I just tried downloading a few vids.....the Ben Doyle lesson #1 vid and a couple others.

My browser (which is FIREFOX, BTW) went to a page with a bunch of random numbers and letters on it....

Anyone else having problems?

YES Icannot view any video.I get still pictures and if I keep clicking on the play button it skips {randomly}through the video.

Birdie, I'm also having these problems in firefox (but not Internet Explorer). We just upgraded the server, and it looks like there's a small problem with the videos in firefox. I'm looking into the problem now.

More video error messages
 
Witht he newest video additions(Ben Doyle S3 and Yoda/VJ), I'm getting slow download times and an error message about half way thru the video.

Windows Message below:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network problem occurred. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your computer is not connected to the local area network (LAN) or Internet. Connect to the network or Internet, and then try again.
The path to the file is not valid. If you typed a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address in the Open URL dialog box, verify that the file name is spelled correctly and that the path to the file is correct, and then try again. If you clicked a link on a Web page, the link might not be valid.
The server is not available (for example, the server is busy or not online). Try again later.
Some network protocols in the Player are not enabled. Enable all network protocols, and then try again.
The proxy server settings for the Player are not configured properly. Verify that your proxy settings are correct, and then try again.
To enable all network protocols
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.
In the Streaming protocols area, select all the protocol check boxes.
To verify your proxy server settings
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.

Wolfman,

These are all big files. You are probably experiencing network timeout problems due to server load or a slow internet connection. I suggest you try and download the file by right clicking on the link or gallery icon, and saving the file to your local disk rather than streaming the videos. Let me know if that worked for you.

Errors
 
I know it isn't a slow internet connection. I'm one step below a T1 at the office and home. All the other files work fine except these new ones.

I'd save them to disk, but when I'm at home, when I right click on the link, "Save target as" is not highlighted. (You wouldn't know how to fix that, would you!)[-o<

It works that way at work, but not at home - WinXP Pro at both places.

Might have to just download them to cd at work :cool:

Firewall
 
Maybe firewall - since that computer is running off a wireless connection, and I think the router has the firewall on.

Is it possible to selectively stop the firewall from working for specific sites?

Thanks for you replies. I'm one of those amatuer computer guys with just enough knowledge to screw things up!

A firewall on your router wouldn't disable the "save target as" link. Some firewall/security systems that reside on your PC are a bit more intrusive (ie. Norton Internet Security). If you have firefox, I'd be interested to know if you're able to download from that browser.

At the office, we have a McAfee product at office, Panda Anti-virus at home. Webroot spyware at both. Use IE.

I've been able to watch and save the Yoda/VJ and Ben series. I just stayed after hours at work to do it.
