Ted Fort -- 2006 Georgia PGA Teacher Of the Year

LBG is pleased to announce that our Ted Fort, aka YodasLuke, has been named one of four finalists for the 2007 Georgia Section PGA Teacher of the Year award.

The selection process has now entered its final phase, and the winner will be determined in the near future. We'll keep you posted.

Congratulations, Ted, and good luck!

I know where my vote would go!

HoganFan 08-21-2006 10:10 PM

Deservedly So...

...just had the pleasure of a four hour lesson with Ted this past Saturday (I'll post at lenght later--still digesting the breakfast we had at Cracker Barrel) and he is by far one of the most able communicators of golf knowledge I've had the pleasure to be around.

And if you've never been to a PGA tourney and heard what a properly compressed ball sounds like, just drop by the range and listen to Ted nuke a few 7i's.

Ted, I'm crossing my digits for you. But either way, the teaching of golf is in good hands with you my friend, very good hands.

:salut:

I had a great time with you, and I was very happy to see the differences that we saw on video. You have the cd, so watch it a few times. Keep me posted on the progress, and I'll be happy to do as much as I can over the phone. You know how to practice, now.

HoganFan 08-22-2006 09:48 PM

Practice Makes Perfect...

...or at least better. Had the PGA taped, watched a lot of Sergio and Ernie keep bringing that R elbow to the waist, and of course that L forearm roll over hard. I'm still digesting, but Q's will come along soon.

My thanks again Ted,

Dana

Good Luck, Ted!

Since Ted is probably too modest to post this, I will. Ted asked some of his students to email letters of recommendation for him to pass along to the selection committee. He recieved 23 letters from 11 states, Sweden, and Australia!
Just goes to show, a great teacher inspires loyalty...

Ted Fort -- 2006 Georgia PGA Teacher of the Year!

The Georgia PGA is one of the 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Its membership includes over 850 PGA professionals working at over 260 golf courses, clubs, and ranges throughout the state. Additionally, more than 20 Georgia PGA members compete on one of the PGA Tours.

But only one member is the 2006 Georgia PGA Teacher of the Year.

Guess who?

Time's up...

And the answer is...

Our own Ted Fort!

Congratulations, Ted. This is a well-deserved honor, one that I personally am extremely proud to see you receive.

You are a credit to your PGA Section...

To your students...

And to The Game.

Most of all, for those of us who are privileged to know you personally...

You are a wonderful husband, father, associate and friend.

Congratulations again, Ted Fort.

Sometimes nice guys finish first...

This is one of those times!

:salut:

Great job, Ted. I enjoyed working with you and Lynn last spring. It certainly takes a talented person to not only provide excellent instruction day in and day out but also keep your game competitive and in tournament shape.

Keep up the good work!

If you want to be a great teacher, it appears it helps to know your TGM!

Congratulations Ted. Respected by your students, admired by your colleagues and now esteemed by your peers with this award. Good things happen to good people.

Ted,

Congrats!!! Well Deserved,

YodasLuke 09-01-2006 11:14 PM

thanks everybody

I'm humbled and honored. It's overwhelming when all of the hard work pays off in such a way. I'm blessed to have a job that I love, and I was blessed to meet Lynn.

None of this would have been possible without Lynn Blake (Mentor of the Year) and the letters to the committee from all of you. I know that they were impressed by the thoughtfulness found in those letters.

The award is nice, but the letters and the people behind them are the trophies.

The Instructor informs and explains.

The Student absorbs and applies.

And so it goes from one to another.

With your knowledge, Ted, comes responsibility. I know you will meet its challenge.

:)

Congrats Ted:)

We Have a Winner!

Ted,

I feel all giddy now that I know someone famous! Of course I do have family living on the Prez's ranch, but taking instruction from and knowing you is way better. :laughing1

In all seriousness, that is a truly wonderful and well deserved reward for all your hard work. The evidence of what you have done for your students has been posted before our eyes here at LBG. As each day goes by I am more and more convinced that this website above all others is going to revolutionize golf instruction, not just because TGM gets it right, but because you and Lynn and our many site patrons deliver the message with clarity, honesty, and conviction. The honors and results speak for themselves. :notworthy

It sure does. It feels like I've known Lynn for thirty years, now. I wish I had met him when I was six. :)

You are one lucky fellow to be so close to Lynn, but remember, great teachers(lynn) are made by great students (ted).
Keep up the great work and count your blessings for being able to study under the best.:read:

I hope to get over there this fall and spend some time with you guys.

Have you raised your rates now?:laughing9

Congrats

Congrats Ted! Enjoy the moment like a really good shot. Then - as any good shot - engrave that shot in your memory & aim at the pin in the National selection. Not an easy shot, but someone has to be closest to the pin.

Again congrats & good luck in the future!

There must be something in that unique putting method you use on short putts :eyes:

Well done my friend :salut:

Congrats to you, Ted. Glad the Long Island contingent could do a little to help out. Let us know if you need any help with the National award!

And Mr Kelley smiled...

As in reality, the truth has a way of insisting upon itself. And the truth is, you have been a fine man and excellent teacher to those who have had the pleasure of crossing paths with you.

Warmest Congratulations! and know the Award confirms that which the people around you have known for quite some time.
