Thanks Brian - it sure is fun to see such a well balanced machine in motion!

Masterful - well done.

The Nike Moment

They will be replaying that long putt with the ball hanging on the edge of the cup for the next two days.

Great job today Brian. :salut:

Great round by Brian. I watched him coming in the back nine, and he was swinging the club very well.

This Could Be the Start of Something Good!

Really proud of Brian Gay today. We talked last night about a number of things...some about our upcoming Verizon outing, but mostly about how I felt his 'breakout' could come at any time. Well, today was a good start!

His brilliant, bogey-free 7-under 64 is leading by two shots after Round One against a world-class field including:

-- 32 of the Top 50 All-Time Career Money Leaders

-- 4 of the Top 10 World-Ranked Players

-- 21 of the Top 50 World-Ranked Players.

Listen to Brian tell about his round by clicking on http://www.pgatour.com/multimedia/2006_audio and then Brian Gay says he got off to a quick start .

As for me, I've been on the Lesson Tee all day. But by the miracle of modern technology and the Grace of God...

I've got The Chrysler Tivo-ed!

And that is exactly where I'm headed right now!

:)

How 'bout...

Heath Slocum.

Also T-3 at -4 and student of LBG Professional Contributor, Mark Backburn, GSEM. Making room in his busy travel schedule, Mark is scheduled to be at the LBG Instructors Academy at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Florida, December 11-13.

Congrats all 'round!

As a comment on the overall goin's on, indulge me, please, in this this reminiscence from my personal 60-year history. From the hit musical, West Side Story which opened on Broadway when I was eleven years old:

SOMETHING'S COMING

Could be!
Who knows?
There's something due any day;
I will know right away,
Soon as it shows.
It may come cannonballing down through the sky,
Gleam in its eye,
Bright as a rose!

Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Under a tree.
I got a feeling there's a miracle due,
Gonna come true,
Coming to me!

Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something's coming, something good,
If I can wait!
Something's coming, I don't know what it is,
But it is
Gonna be great!

With a click, with a shock,
Phone'll jingle, door'll knock,
Open the latch!
Something's coming, don't know when, but it's soon;
Catch the moon,
One-handed catch!

Around the corner,
Or whistling down the river,
Come on, deliver
To me!
Will it be? Yes, it will.
Maybe just by holding still,
It'll be there!

Come on, something, come on in, don't be shy,
Meet a guy,
Pull up a chair!
The air is humming,
And something great is coming!
Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Maybe tonight . . .

Name?

Heath Slocum is a player I follow closely, he has a solid swing, personality and short game. He also showed a lot of grit by grinding out 3 wins on the Nationwide Tour in 2002 to earn a battlefield promotion. All this after battling a serious illness early in his career.

He reminds me of a "poor man's" David Toms. I wish him continued success, as I do all of the "machineheads" out there.

Just a feeling...

The last win by a high profile TGM player was on the 26th of September 1982, at the Southern Open where Bobby Clampett won with a score of 14-under-par.

24 years on, could Brian Gay be the next?

I have a feeling...

I have a feeling...

Really the last win by a high profile TGM player was Jodie Mudd....in fact he won two top tournaments that year....the "Players Championship" and "The Tour Championship" (which was called the Nabisco Championships). The following year Jodie shot a 63 at the British Open...one of a few players to shot a 63 on Sunday at the Open. Also, in 1991, Jodie was voted number 2 to either Tom Purtzer or Steve Elkington for the best swing on tour.

bantamben1 10-27-2006 01:48 AM

your just saying that because he worked with tomasello. JK
what about steve elkington he won the pga in 95 got in a playoff at the british a couple years back and almost won 05 pga championship. And he worked with mac and doyle probably the two most famous tgm teachers steve is actually an AI i think

lagster 10-27-2006 07:17 AM

TGM Related Winners

There have been several TGM-- Related winners. Bobby Clampett may have been the most well known for being a TGMer, but there have been several.

Any of coach Mike Holder's guy's probably a least have some TGM knowledge and application. Scott Verplank, BobTway, and many more.

Mac O'Grady himself was greatly influenced by TGM, and so his students also.

Steve Elkington is a G.S.E.D..

Jodie Mudd... worked much with Tom Tomasello and Mac O'Grady.

George Kelnhofer, G.S.E.D. has worked with several tour winners, many of them while at Georgia Tech. (David Duval, Stewart Cink)

Ben Doyle helped Johnny Miller return from a slumping career, to be a winner again.

There are others.

There have also been some Nationwide Tour winners. I believe Tom Ness, G.S.E.M., worked with a recent winner.

They are out there.

Brian has picked up where he left off yesterday. Starting on #10, he's two-under after three, putting him at -9 for the tournament and the leader by three. http://pgatour.com/scoring/leaderboard/r :)

He worked with Ron Gring as I remember...not sure for how long.....or how long ago.....

Just to add to it all people. My student Chiragh Kumar who was top ametuer at the Indian Open at 9 under last week leads after two rounds at 9 under at the BILT Open this week. The young man at 21 has 2nd at the Malaysian Ametuer at 14 under, Winner at the Singapore Ametuer at 15 under, winner of the PAkistan Ametuer, and now this. Talk about an Ametuer leading an open after two rounds amongst top professionals on the Indian circuit - could only be a TGM student. And as mentioned earlie Chiragh, JJ chakola and Meghna Bal are part of the 6 member team to the Asian Games and I have been appointed the National Coach for my country to take care of the team.
HK you looking down on what you left behind?? Sure you are and enjoying every bit of it. Dont worry my friend we are working towards your vision. We are dedicated and will get your little yellow book where it justfully belongs.

Unusual Hazard

Brian Gay's round yesterday was interrupted when police searching for two burglars of a nearby home came onto the third teebox. Heliocopters hovered overhead!

"Never had a manhunt out here," said Brian. :laughing9

Listen to Brian tell about his round and that incident by clicking on http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r475/audio and then Brian Gay talks about his strategy for the weekend.
