New Look
Ok.... I suggest losing the LEFTY hitting the bunker shot as the new site banner pic! That HAS to be a mistake! :laughing1

What is even more of a mistake is I am pretty sure it is a righty reversed!

Thanks, guys. Keep your comments coming. We have very thick skins around here and will seriously consider every reasonable suggestion.

In the long run, our only constraint is new and BIGGER and better ideas! BB,
My original comment was a bit in jest. ;) Actually I like the updates you've made to the graphics... gives it a "sleeker" appearance. CG |

I like the new site a lot easier to jump to videos

I like the look but.............
I like he new look and I don't even mind the lefty above. I like the navigation of the site but haven't figured out how to download the videos like before. Before, you could right click and download them so you could look at them on your iPOD or iPAQ. I went to download under the new format and the click on image to download just loads the video. What? No more download so I can look at it later? I figured we would lose the download ability some time down the road but I just thought it would be later rather than sooner.
Other than that, the site is looking good. |
Kevin, you can still download. Just right click on the video icon (although something appears to be wrong with this at the moment) or right click on the text directly below the embedded video and choose save to disk from the menu.

On many occassions I cannot get the videos to open up at all. On every occassion I am asked to sign in with user name and password prior to proceeding. Is this necessary? Or, am I doing something daft? |
Are you using firefox or IE?
I assume this didn't happen before the upgrade? |

Had you ever logged in via Internet Explorer before? IE and windows media player share the same authentication system, and the server checks your logged in status before delivering the videos. If you've got a PC try logging in using IE, (be sure to check the remember me box), and then try viewing the videos again via firefox or IE. If you just use firefox, I think it was behaving this way before...can anybody verify?

I have been using Firefox and it did not behave this way for me before the change. |

I'll work on it some more guys. Until it's fixed, you can download the videos and won't be nagged with the login prompt.
|
Could a couple firefox users give the videos another shot? It will probably still prompt you for username/password the first time, but hopefully not on any subsequent video requests.

Thanks Ben
Thanks for the info on downloading. I will let you know if I find anything else. I like the new look and navigation.

Still no go on download
Bambam,
Still a no go on the download. I right click and get save target as.....then I get an html document instead of the file. You can see the file name when you float your mouse icon on the picture but the only way to see the video is to click it and wait for it to load into the player in the webpage. I am using IE. |

while the video is playing ...try right clicking on the text below the video in the black area that says "This is a video ..click to download"...you should get the "save as" choice and that will download the video. |

Getting zilch @ 23.40 GMT on 01/31/2007. Latest attempt brought the legend Colin - Down the Line This is a video, click on the thumbnail to download Below a dark square only - nothing further. Similar result when trying to access the Brian Gay sample. |
Burner, I just turned off the embedded video for the time being. There should now be a clickable icon where the video used to be, and it should launch the movie in your default player.
Please report back w/ success or failure. Thanks |

Curiously, Lynn, in a new post, has put up the url to this vid' which opens perfectly for me. Edit: I have now accessed Lynn's "Swivel" video through the new gallery process and it has opened up satisfactorily. The problem, therefore, seems to lie in the newest additions to the gallery and may just be caused by my running the (now) obsolete Windows 98 SE system. |
Burner, I missed this edit. What version of windows media player are you using? The current version is 11; if you're not using that version, I'd try downloading the most recent.

Latest Media version downloaded as suggested and first "trial" was successful. My earlier problems were Quick Time issues, I think  . |

I may have spoken too soon, having enjoyed the first part of the Brian Gay compilation series. Clicking on the second of the Brian Gay compilation videos prompted the following response:- You've encountered error message 80040154 while using Windows Media Player. Additional information is not currently available for this error. On making further attempts to access gallery stuff, i.e. Collin Neeman, down the line" and "Vikki Lake, a silent lesson", I was directed to another part of LBG and then just got frustrated. Seems that the problem is one related to my antiquated system more than a site issue, as no one else is complaining. I will report again once I have my new PC/set up/operating system W.H.Y. This may be a little way down the line but, meanwhile, don't waste any more time on me. Thanks. |
