Website Makeover & Forum Down Time

We're working on a new look for LynnBlakeGolf.com, as well as upgrading all the underlying technical "stuff" to support our continued growth. If everything goes as planned, we'd like to try and make a switch in the next day or two. This means that the current site will be down for a couple of hours. When we're ready to make the switch, I'll post an update with the details around the down time.

This update will be the first of several exciting website changes that will help better serve our expanding audience!

I don't like change.

GPStyles 04-28-2009 01:50 PM

Thats great, I hope it won't change too much and will still be the home that us regulars love.

The channel on Youtube was a great idea.

I'm embedding LBG videos on the different forums I go on. Great stuff!

For those who haven't discovered this yet, almost all of our free videos have been posted on our YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/lynnblakegolf

All free videos on the new site will be in flash format and can be easily embedded in posts and throughout the website.

I suppose we could leave up the old site at www.daryl.com or something and you could continue to visit it, but it might get a little boring talking to yourself....or maybe not ;)

Thanks

I can tell him but can't make any promises about him changing his ways. :)

It took me hours to photoshop him into a clean-cut accountant type in the photos from Brian Gay's party!

Bucket bears a strong resemblance to Top Flite's D2 man....coincidence or true identity? :confused1

Hey, I don't like Flash. You can't rewind, pause, enlarge, slow-mo, increase brightness/contrast, gamma correct, etc. :laughing9

I need the Archives. I need opinions, thoughts and questions. I need to hear people thinking out loud, exchanging ideas, and seeing those ideas progress. Besides, I can't answer most of my own questions.

I'll try it. Are you keeping the same Forum Names?

Thats very Kind of you. He owes you. :)

There needs to be a New Rule at LBG events. Pictures must be taken before the Party begins. :salut:

Im trying to log onto daryl.com but its down. The admin says it'll be back up when daryl stops replying to his own posts. Might take a while. He's also in a bidding war with himself over a genuine, mint condition seventh edition, some high lighter marks.

Go Daryl.

Go Daryl.

I’m responding to each individual thread.

Hmm? the only bidding war I'll be in is with you over a "Third Edition" when one becomes available. I have the others. :)

For now, nothing about the forum is changing other than the look and feel.

I know a thing about "looks", ie. color, Banners, etc. But what is feel?

V1 can play flash videos, including videos directly from YouTube. It can pause, rewind, and step through the videos.

http://www.v1golfacademy.com/

If you want to open flash videos in your normal video software, you can download a video codec pack here that includes flash video:

http://www.cccp-project.net/

That will be handy. Thanks. I suppose that flash has fewer problems and is faster loading among other benefits.

Hey Bambam, is this an example of feel? http://www.jellybelly.com/

Yep, flash is the standard for video on the web, and it's much more flexible as far as delivery and being usable within the forums and other parts of the site.

"feel" in terms of web design is how you interact with the site - buttons, navigation, etc...

Upgrade Tonight

I'm planning on making the switch late this evening. If I can, I will leave this forum available for reading but no posting during the cut-over. If not, we won't be down long.

Bagger Lance 04-29-2009 03:55 PM

Whoo hoo. Fast'n yer seatbelts.
I've done this once or twice - maybe I should get a nap in first?

The new look is pretty nice. Bambam did a good job on it.
There will be some minor cosmetic clean up here and there, but overall its an improvement.

O.B.Left 04-30-2009 11:59 PM

Great job guys. I love the photos and new video format.

coolstv88 05-01-2009 09:49 AM

new posts

on the old forum there was a secton on the top right of the page that showed new posts since last time you visited the site.
I loved this because it made it easy to follow threads as they develop. I can not find that section here, is there any way it could be incorperated again?

garagefan66 05-01-2009 09:57 AM

I agree. Please bring back the new posts tab. Everything else is cool. Great job.

There is a "New Posts" link in the forum toolbar that will work. I'll see if I can find a way to incorporate the new post count back into the welcome line, also.

garagefan66 05-01-2009 04:12 PM

Thanks. Works great.

okie 05-01-2009 05:10 PM

Turborized!

Thanks for all the effort with the new look. Sleeker for the TGM LBG seeker!

I'll have to do a search for them, but there were some Barclay's youtube clips from 2008 that can be added to that channel.

Yes, I must have missed them when I looked, I'll look again when I get a chance.

Nice work on the changes Ben. As a fellow IT person, I know a LOT more goes into changes like this than meets the eye.

Thanks, EdZ. This one was a pretty big change that's been in the works for a while.

I think these are the videos you're looking for: http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/index.p...f-Academy.html

Thanks, Trig. With Yoda getting busier and more involved each weekend, Tweeting is a great way to keep him plugged into the forum. I don't know what's next, but this upgrade gives us lots of possibilities!
