Rick Murphy, Carolinas PGA 2009 Teacher of the Year!
A tip of the LBG cap to student and friend, Rick Murphy, on his being named the Carolinas PGA 2009 Teacher of the Year.
The Carolinas Section has more than 2,000 members and is the largest in the PGA of America. Rick was also last year's Professional of the Year, and the back-to-back accomplishments are unprecedented in the Carolinas Section. Congrats, Rick! http://www.carolinas.pga.com/index.c...edit_i d=8327 |
Congrats Rick!
It's great to have an LBG guy win the Carolinas Teacher of the Year. If you're ever in Charleston look me up. Sorting Through the Instructor's Textbook. B-Ray Brandon Ray PGA Member Head Teaching Professional Patriots Point Links Charleston, SC |

Don't know about Rick making it to Charleston, but I encourage you to think about coming to Greensboro. He and I are doing a two-day clinic together for the Carolinas Section guys on March 1-2. No info has gone out yet, but mark the dates. It's gonna be a good'n! :golfcart2: |
Congratulations Rick. Wonderful accomplishments! :salut:

Had a great lesson today with Rick ( who I believe is now a Lynn Blake Senior Instructor). We hit balls- high, low, hooks, fades, flops, driver off the deck- geez I was worn out. The sound and flight of my golf ball is vastly improved since working with Rick.

Rick Murphy -- LB Certified Master Instructor

We recognized his achievement in a press release, but it somehow did not find its way into the LBG Media Center. Coming soon! :salut: |
Sorry! Knew it was an increased level of certification. Senior moment! Rick said it was a great time at Cuscowilla. Hard work and much learned.
Yoda, hope you are well. Don't work too hard! |
Way to go Rick!

Just want to update my progress with Rick. I cannot tell you how my ball striking has improved. The compression... Well it is beyond description. I hit several shots today that were as pure as I have ever hit. If I stay centered, maintain constant driving pressure the results are amazing. I hit shot after shot that is solid and on line. Yoda and Rick have changed my golf game, that is for sure. Can't thank them enough.

Another great morning on the range with Rick. Apparently I have worked hard enough that he felt it time to make some drastic (to me anyway!) changes to my setup by forcing me to get closer to the ball and extend my arms to the ball. My, oh my. What a change. I can finally drive my right shoulder down the plane! Thanks Rick! Can't wait to hit some balls tomorrow!

Taffy
Hey...thanks for the compliments...however you are getting it and you have discovered this on your own...I just enjoy nudging you in the best direction.:hello2:
|
Well, Rick, you certainly nudged me along today! Thanks for your help. I think I may have seen the light, finally! I only wish I had been shown the way to swing 40 years ago!
|
My hat is off to you!
Taffy,
It is a pleasure to work with you!:laughing9. Learning is a "process"...A PROCESS is a set of events or occurrences that, together, lead to some particular product, state, or change. Practice and learning taken together, lead to the acquisition of the capability of moving skillfully - with "skill". You are making the necessary changes on the inside that are leading to the changes that you see on the outside. It's piece by piece and little by little...you will get there. Thanks! Knowing the alignments ain't bad is it....then putting these mechanics into motion....:golf: |
Another wonderful lesson with Rick today. As much as I learned I enjoyed the stories of time with Yoda in Orlando during the PGA show just as much. I just wish I had been taught this stuff 30 years ago before i got so old and fat! Thanks for the day Rick.

Last Sat spent a cold windy morning sitting around indoors hitting a few balls but mainly discussing the swing and hitting vs swinging and most importantly what will work best for me. Together we concluded that hitting was for me. Yesterday I hit about 35 balls and today I played-hitting all the way. As long as I don't over accelerate all is beautiful! Thanks Rick!

We really got it humming yesterday.

Another fine morning with Rick today. It was so interesting having a PGA pro I know watching us say 'Tom, how did you get to hit it like THAT?" as he has played with me before! Told him "by working with Rick".
Spent an hour working on extensor action, clearing the right side and down and out. My ball flight improved so much. Thanks, Rick! |
