I thought that the club was on plane when the club points at the target line or if it is paralel to it.



What is wrong with this picture?

Leadbetter believes the plane to be concave. The portion of his concave plane which he is traveling here reveals what happens to the plane line.....it bends. His plane of motion, his energy is not aligned with he ball at this point! Aligned for easy lifting and an elbow position being his motivation. He will have to make an equal and opposite corrective action to get the line of his clubheads orbit inline with the ball prior to impact, with a cross line delivery line of the clubhead being the likely result. These wobbles about the plane line disturb the 2d orbit of the clubhead and detract from power and accuracy. Much like a satellite with a deteriorating orbit in space. Not to say it cant be done, see Trevino etc but it isnt "on plane" as he states. "Curved plane" is an oxymoron.
