I have too much time to think lately since I can't yet swing a club.

I was running the long driving championship at my club yesterday, Very Blue Collar Muni. That's why I love it, real people who just want to play golf, no putting on a show of how important they are. A lot of "Caddy Yard" swings. We've all seen them, no real fancy training, built to shoot the lowest score they can using "feel." Nobody trained in the "Classic" golf swing.

I used to watch these swings thinking of how I could tear them apart and start over. How could I make them look like Ben Hogan. Now I have a better understanding of how some of these unusual motions work, and work well. I look at what I might change by going threough the list of components in my head. What might fit to improve the motion and the tools they already have?

It occurs to me it must have been these types of swings Mr. Kelley was building The Golfing Machine around. He spent his time at public ranges and muni courses developing his ideas around the common man. It sounds as though he didn't start really working with the pros until very late in his career.

Pictures of Diane looked classic, but they were posed and not really built around motion... that's what I am thinking anyway...

Geez, you guys. I'm getting a bit maudlin reading those two posts.
It is so much fun reading these posts from all the folks at LBG. I learn something every day.
I read some of the other forums and they are disrespectful, snooty, argumentative seemingly just for the sake of being argumentative. Everybody has questions and everybody has insights. I so appreciate this forum.
O.k., for tomorrow's romp at the Links of New Richmond I am going to work on my tripod, hands driven pivot and finish swivel. That's it.
I hope to make enough off those guyst to pay for a lesson with Kev. Get out the schedule, Big Stuff.

Jerry, Daryl and EdZ have been very nice, too! I think OB has been enjoying a little uhmmm "family time," with the lovely Mrs. OB since he has started teaching her the "magic technique" which we call pp# 3. :naughty:

Nice point Kev. When you look at those "natural" swings you invariably see a lot of right arm I'd say. Homer saw this too. Hence 12-1 being the first listed pattern, Im thinking. He thought it to be the more "natural". Ah, more circles.

When playing baseball I never laced a double by pulling the bat with my left side. While playing tennis I never pulled my right hand forehand cross court with my left side. I did it with my right!
As a kid in the Army I'd hit an 8 iron 160 and a driver well over 250. I'd just whack it.
Golf pretty well stepped aside for awhile as family and careers took over. Then I got back into it and I took a lesson from a golf pro. It went downhill for 30 years until I got on this ride.
Geez, this TGM stuff is fun.

Good points guys. I have never seen so many "on plane" right forearms at address anywhere, and I'm certain they have no idea they do it, but its the way they learned they can get er done!
