Question from a newbie
 

Been lurking around here off & on a while now, but this is my first post. I read TGM probably 15 years ago & knew there was important information in it but couldn't comprehend it. Picked it up again several times since with the same result. After digging in here over the last few weeks some of the fog is beginning to lift; I'm beginning to understand some of the terminology although the paragraph references still leave me in the dark.

Here's my first question: I've been playing for over 40 years now, most of that to a low single-digit handicap, & realize that I have been letting my left wrist break down the entire time. Where do I start to retrain myself to extend the right forearm without losing my wrist wrist bend & breaking down my left wrist at impact? Is it by repetition of the basic & acquired motions monitoring my impact alignment? Thanks...

Double D, it absolutely starts with basic motion where you can look, see, and feel what's happening through the impact interval. Please, do yourself a favor, if you want to learn TGM without all the fog, you need:

Thanks, Kevin. Don't worry about sounding like a salesman; I'd much rather get my swing advice from a professional than the guy hitting balls next to me who coincidentally just happens to think I need to work on the same thing he's working on which just happens to be something he saw on the Golf Channel last night!

I do live less than an hour from Cuscowilla in east-central Georgia! Maybe someday I'll be able to arrange a lesson with Yoda; sounds like it would make a great 30th anniversary present, don't you think? (mine's coming up in September)

For those who've never had the chance to visit Cuscowilla, put it on your bucket list. It's quite an experience & was already one even before Yoda arrived. Although the course is on Lake Oconee it's basically an inland course with an isolated feel. There's very little in the way of signs on the course, just tee markers & granite plaques with the hole # & yardage. Minimalist design, feel like you have the course all to yourself even when there are a number of people playing. The day I played I drove thru the course to the pro shop & noticed everybody was walking & there were a LOT of good looking swings in evidence. Found out when I signed in it was the last day for practice rounds before the state mid-amateur!
