Vertical hinging
 

I know that it is an advantage to know how to do a vertical hinging shot to get a high, soft shot when needed. But is it possible to achieve almost the same effect if one opens the clubface (before taking the grip) and just play it like a angled hinging punch motion with this open clubface? Wouldn't that make the clubface flat like vertical hinging at impact and give about the same result after all?
