As the clubs get shorter, your aiming point will tend to move more forward. And vice versa. So, for a 3-iron, the aiming point could theoretically be "the ball" but the swing bottom (low point) is still in front of the ball. Trial-and-error is the best way to figure out YOUR aiming points.
