Homer's work should stay untouched.
Would you add or subtract from a great work of art?
I agree. New books can, will be, and are being written. Homer Kelley's work can stand on it's own with the help of people who really understand it like YODA.
A few changes were made to the 7th edition after Mr. Kelley's passing, and I believe the changes caused much of the division present in the TGM world now. Just think what would happen with a total re-write, TGM advocates would be jumping ship in a hurry...
Let Homer Kelley's work be... add to it in separate works...

Homer Kelley chose to frame his ideas with precision and avoid explanation. TGM Concepts are very simple and very basic and very logical. I'm not surprised at the learning curve problem this caused. I am surprised, that given the rudimentary nature of the Pivot and Arm Motions/geometry of TGM that others haven't stumbled upon them a thousand times since. That confounds me much more than the learning curve problem.

I agree. He did avoid explanation. That's why I don't get it.
Great question...interesting...the work of Homer Kelly is a really incredible piece of work that took in reality a lifetime...if not...at the very least....it was a lifelong journey once it started. It is well documented that he himself continued to update and improve on his work...and from what I gather from people that actually spent time with him...they have confirmed that. He put the geometry and physics of the swing in a format that is quite astounding during his time....every time I look back into the book...I see something new and in a different light. The mystery continues to fade away as I read and understand more. I enjoy using the book as a source of information along with other books written before TGM and shortly after. It is a book that has definitely assisted every accomplished teacher walking on this planet with his or her core knowledge of the golf swing. Either directly or indirectly. Armed with this core information and the desire to learn, teach or play...you will be better equiped for the journey....but remember....this does not guarantee that you will ever become a good player or student or teacher. Communication is the key and how you communicate the core knowledge to yourself (implement) or as a teacher to your student is the the "Secret" if there is one.
To guess what changes should be made for an 8th Edition would purely be a guess and really has no bearing on anything with respect to the information that Homer Kelly has given us. If he were alive today it would be interesting to see what progress he could have made...we..unfortunately don't have that luxury. Great conversation though.
I think that "YODA" could be the best connection to the past... walking today...that could best sift through how Homer Kelly would have developed the later editions 8th....9th....10th.....and on.
I would highly recommend a visit with Lynn to anyone that wants to get "the rest of the story".

Thanks, Rick.
My personal journey in TGM began in 1979 with the 4th.
One year later, over the phone, Homer Kelley himself assisted me in its understanding.
Then, came the 5th. Along with his personal apologies for the inept printing effort of the 4th that caused the spine to come unhinged. In which effort he had laboriously applied himself -- one by one -- corrective strips (back and front) to the hundreds of books unshipped. Today, I guess, the mantra is 'just sue'em' and hope to get your money back. Not so with Homer. Faced with a difficult business decision, he elected to "take what ya got and make it work!".
Later, in January 1982, I was with him for a week. There, he passed out with pride our brand new "6ths". A few months later, to quiet my persistent begging, he sent me a copy of the first edition, along with an invoice for $7.50. Many years later, I acquired the second and third editions.
Yesterday at Cuscowilla, I trained a 24-year old PGA professional in these same principles and procedures. He had in hand the posthumously published 7th edition. I signed that book -- that edition . . . but in my own mind, I signed more. In fact, I signed seven.
More important, that young professional left with a more authoritative Short Stroke.
Also, a more structured and precise Long Stroke.
Finally, a more complete concept for his students.
Indeed, he left with nothing less than a new approach to the Game.
I have asked you this before, (and I suppose that your certified instruction program is the answer but..) when are you putting up a school like the one you did go through?
Sitting down and turning page by page...

We're planning the next Lynn Blake Certified Instructor class now. The date has not yet been established but will probably be sometime in January 2011 in Greensboro, NC. There then will be a number of schools at the Associate, Instructor, and Senior Instructor levels throughout the year. That schedule will be published on this site.

You know, Daryl, I hadn't thought about this, but it's true.
In his interest for brevity, Homer Kelley gave us only the 'answers' -- the distillation of his search for truth -- and left it to those of us interested to deduce the path by which those answers came.
