Consider a pivot-driven swing in a swinger - he uses the pivot to load and release PA#4. Here is an example of the release of PA#4 - by Ben Hogan. When PA#4 is released in the mid-downswing, the left arm moves towards impact, and then PA#2 and then PA#3 are released passively. Is that what you mean by "learn to hit the ball with your pivot"?
