De-lagging. What a crock! Charles Howell used to have a ton of lag and lean until he was de-lagged..and check out his stats BEFORE the lead poisoning. He was #1 in Total Driving early in his career. Now, he's pretty well down the list.
Brad Faxon steers the ball too often. Neither he nor Tiger get "stuck" because of too much lag. We all just steer too much.
Good post! What would you say is the best remedy for Steering?

In my case steering = bending the plane line right in followthrough leading to a high hands finish. At Canton Brian Manzella thought this was my biggest fault.
The remedy was learning how to swing on plane. I am doing lots of training on this now using a laser from impact onwards keeping the laser pointed at the base line and in my case (swinger) training in horizontal hinging. Also I am working on keeping the club on plane through the followthrough swivel. Clyde Melancon of http://www.golfjustlikethepros.com/
Has made me up a prototype of a Dual Laser Grip. A grip with a laser at both ends 180* from eachother. http://www.golfjustlikethepros.com/D...ining_Grip.htm
I got the idea for the device when working on killing my steering action. It is due to turn up any day but I have a got a good feeling about it. Swinging on plane feels like you are swinging well left in followthrough compared to steering.

In an ideal world, the laser would come out of the #3 pressure point and shoot through the line of pull (sweetspot). If the laser is close enough to the #3 pressure point, shooting straight down the shaft can suffice.

Ted: Thanks for that. So am I correct in thinking that the laser should point slightly outwards and above the base line in the followthrough about 1 1/2" or so? Can you describe precisely how you should use the laser in the post impact stages of the swing? I want to get this right.

No, it's the sweetspot that should trace the line, not the hosel. The sweetspot should not be outside the baseline. The line of pull (#3 pressure point to sweetspot) traces the baseline of the plane. 1-L #5 and #6 have to be understood in context.

Get this concept in your Computer:
You make a motion, and the ball just gets in the way. You don't try to hit down, or try to square the face up, or try to accelerate just before Impact in an attempt to get more mash. Never hit at the ball. Never make any compensations for Impact. Ball just gets in the way...
