I just meant that they MOST really don't care much about improving. Not that anything is wrong with that but it's kinda dumb to argue and with people like that.
Both sites serve a purpose. I look at the GEA like a bar scene. You meet some really nice people, but you have to put up with the occasional drunk. You first try to reason with the drunk. If he complies, great. If not, you might have to droop his lip or dot his eye.
However, I regard this site as the classroom. This is a place where like-minded individuals are seeking to learn from one another. The civility found in here differentiates between the two.

Hope you still visit the bar. Have an ale on me. I'll be at home.
I have GEA bookmarked. I think it has one good purpose and secondary purpose. I like to think it has some of the best deals on used equipment and trades. Other than that I like to look at what different people say about equipment performance, etc. I am hardcore TGM and I'm not trying to insult anyone but just telling the truth when I say that some of those guys could care less about discussing the golf swing if you're going to bring any reference of TGM or Homer into it.
Although I can't afford a TGM lesson (trying to go back to college and work a job), I'm wading through the book and with just that info. and what I've got off the forums here and at Brian's site I have become a much better ballstriker and have developed a deadly short game. I just hope and pray that Lynn or Ted don't retire before I can get out of school one day and take a lesson.
Does anyone here know the percentage of golfers that took at least ONE lesson last year?
5%
5% TOTAL!!!
Now IMHO, I think it is becuase you can't get a, lets say Ted Fort-quality lesson just anywhere.
If haircuts were as universally bad as golf lessons, peopel would buy a lot of FLOWBEES!
TGM teachers, CAN change the numbers, but not past my best guesses, imo.
Amen brother!!! That's the main reason I don't take lessons anymore, it's hard to find affordable lessons that are good. Sure, I can run down the road 20 miles and take a $35/hr lesson from my local PGA pro but guess what - it's not even worth that.
I also believe that a lot of amateurs are like one of my playing partners. He's horrible but can afford to take a quality lesson but doesn't believe that it'll help him because he knows it's going to involve a plan and he's too lazy to follow it so he'd be wasting money. One of those people who "dives right into playing and disdains any practice other than just hitting that ball," per 3-B.
