Time In Grade -- A Deficient Measure Of Professionalism

What will they say about you now?
Yes, Bagger. I seem to be making progress.

Since my return to teaching in April 2004 at the PGA TOUR Academy, I have taught many hundreds of amateurs and professionals. That instruction has been delivered privately -- both on my own Lesson Tee and on the PGA TOUR -- and in more than a dozen major Academies in three countries.

I learn from each new experience and do my best to apply that knowledge to the next. My more than 4,000 posts on this site are a distillate of that work and, also, my 27 years of study of The Golfing Machine, including the personal tutelage of its author, Homer Kelley.

Unfortunately, as your post suggested, every step along the way has elevated the frustration level of a certain disgruntled, self-avowed competitor. For many months now, using his own website as his forum, he has continually knocked me and the work I do. Criticism and debate of a particular teaching methodology is one thing. Malicious personal and professional attacks are quite another. As a result, he is no longer welcome here, and his LBG membership privileges have been revoked. In short, the bitten hand has bitten back.

This difficult circumstance is in stark contrast to the many professional friendships I now enjoy all over the world. I am privileged that twenty of these friends have chosen to list and participate as Professional Contributors. I am also grateful for the many professionals -- both teaching and PGA TOUR -- who visit us daily and who often offer kind words of encouragement via email and Private Message.

My "competitor" does make a certain point, though: Where would I be if I had his "25 years of continuous teaching experience."

A fun thought.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...
