I think is there more than 1 way to use an aiming point. Maybe think about the aiming point on the plane line, instead of the target line....because they can be different (not parallel). I think ball position and length of the club might affect the aiming point.

You are gettin' there! Aiming Point is on the DELIVERY LINE, which could be the Plane Line or a Visual Equivalent (e.g. Arc or Angle of Approach).

There are 2 basic procedures . . .

1. Aiming Point is held constant for all clubs and BALL POSITION MOVES.

2. Ball Position is constant and Aiming Point moves.

Aiming Point can be used for any release type but typically used to control Snap Releases. This is used to control the release based on the length of shaft. That's why the aiming point is more Down Plane for short irons relative to longer shafted irons.

Mr. Kelley devised this procedure basically from drawing straight lines free-hand. Chalk on starting point eyes on finishing point . . . draw line. Same concept . . . hands at top . . . eyes on aiming point direct thrust to that point.
