Here's the rub, straight from the horses mouth. Mark Blackburn, Boo's instructor, does not like the amount of lag Boo has. Says he can't hit all the shots, hits it too low. Now, I want to swing like Boo, but my swing looks more like Zach, which is why I can hit a long iron pretty high.
On Tour, expecially now with Trackman, I think the small pulley type swing will diminish some. I agree....it looks sexy as hell, but...to hold the ball on rock hard greens, you gotta hit it high...which requires a more random release.
I agree with the above. I hate the full sweep, but a more random release is preferable for being able to hit all the shots.
Also, Boo don't do the finish swivel, he kind of holds it off, like Mr. O'Grady....and Hogan

Blackburn, Blackjack Mulligan, Blackberry Bob . . . who-the-heck-ever would a HUGE MONUMENTAL MISTAKE to de-lag Boo in my humble marginally retarded opinion.
If you want to get Boo to hit the ball up . .. get him to move his hips forward and up quicker . . . which will also get the club releasing sooner.
Don't touch his power package (uh huh) . . .
Boo does swivel but it's way late due to the trigger delay and related motions.
Don't get me wrong, no way Blackburn will de-lag him, I wasn't implying that, it's just that sometimes, when he really needs to hit a good long-iron, or hit one really high, he struggles a bit.
I still want to swing like him though, but I think a lot of his "look" of accumulator lag has a lot to do with his bent left wrist to start the downswing. Lots of downcocking going on there. He doesn't flatten it until really late in the swing.
For the record, IMO Boo has a top 5 golf swing on the PGA Tour right now and it is my goal to have more of the kind of lag he has.

Watch his hips . . . he doesn't know how to do it . . . this swing that we got on youtube is a short iron into the wind . . . BUT . . . if he his left leg to straighten & gets the hips going more forward it will go up.

He does nearly the same thing with the driver swing though
Watch that video and you can see he basically makes the same swing, snaps his left leg and his hips work really left. You also get a pretty good look at his finish swivel, or anit-swivel. It really shows how he cocks his left arm up and keeps his arms closer together
If you got his hips to go LESS left, he would lose some of that lag, he would have to. His impact interval would have to start sooner and that big lag look would be reduced....A LOT.
If I'm going to sit here and listen to this BS, I'm pulling up my armchair.
How would you get him to get it up in the air?
Here's Duval . . . ANOTHER shut faced turned grip angled hinger who when this sequence was taken was the BEST ON THE PLANET . . . and hit it to THE MOON. Look at Boo's left knee and how level his hips are compared to Double D.
Watch this action compared to Boo's . . . this stuff is in the book . . . Chapter 10 . . . knee action(level hips vs. slanted hips) . .. hip action . . . it's in there . . . promise.
So heres the deal . . . if you are going to have a shut face and a turned left hand . . . do you want to pivot like
A. Zach Johnson
B. Sergio Garcia
C. Boo Weekly
D. David Duval
