Another short almost silent clip of Lynn with Jay Williamson on the practice range. You do hear a smaking of the ball off camera- thats VJ who seems to hit 3 balls for everyone's one. I turn the camera to him at the end. See him grip down about three inches on the grip and use a bit of a lagging clubhead take away. And rip it. Sometime this afternoon.

There ya go- thats VJ's loud driver you hear over and over in the side background and appears at the end.
another great video. i haven't seen Jay swing it much before, it's a nice action. very rarely do you see a pro swing and feel sure he's hitting a big fade. steve lowery and bruce lietzke (sp?) come to mind. maybe Yoda would be kind enough to help out here, does Jay Williamson play a fade? perhaps just for those shots.
has anyone noticed the change in VJ's swing, if any? i moved to a new house recently and sadly can't get golf coverage so only go on what i see on the net. he looks to be a bit more upright at the top. he seems to like that position and be really pounding it. pouring on the power a bit earlier. i've always thought he was very deep and flat for a big guy. he works on headcovers/gloves etc under the right arm pit a lot i think.

Jay can work the ball either way from what I saw at the Barclay's. He hits a very straight ball that falls off gently. His warm up on Sunday was mostly draws.

A definite change to VJ's swing from last year. In 07 his hands were very deep early in the swing with the clubhead pointing outside the plane line on the takeaway. At the top he had a little re-routing action that is gone this year. His swing from start to finish is as on plane as he has ever been. Check out his ball striking stats from 07 to 08 and you will see his dramatic improvement. He has used the Smartstick since last September and continues to do so with the results showing in his stats.
