I am not sure of whom you speak, but they are mistaken. It is possible to hit good golf shots by flipping just as it is possible to hit good golf shots swinging a frying pan behind your back. It is, however, not the most controllable and repeatable way to do it (although I hear Bucket swings a mean chicken frying pan

). Lower scores come about from control and repeatability which are a consequence of precision geometrical alignments throughout the stroke. It takes time and practice to learn, but it is an easy concept to understand.
