Down, DG. Down boy.

Brian Drive Loads; Sweep Releases; uses a strong Right Arm/Elbow Action through Impact; and Angle Hinges.

Looks like a duck.

Walks like a duck.

Quacks like a duck.

He is a duck.

I mean . . . a Hitter.

That is all I was looking for...any additional information would be icing on the cake.

Thanks...

Dear Yoda,

Changed? In the BG video, you said hitting is not his cup of tea...

He didn't change. It was a gradual realization on my part of the true nature of his action. Just goes to show how close the two can be.

BG's rhythmic hinged beam
Yoda,

I had the same question KOC posed, having spent some time with the BG video (and Alignment Golf by the way both are totally awesome, I'm loving the putting dvd).

Do you think his motion in the backswing is a carry-back type of motion or how do you think he stresses the shaft in the backswing? What you see as his default pattern is that he loads the right elbow not the left wrist correct? From tee to green?

welcome to (soggy) New York by the way! hope to see you at Barclays in Aug.

Hey Bird

Although I posted somewhere that both Brian and Larry Nelson both employ a lagging takeaway, I'd like to retract that. I talked to Yoda about it recently and discovered I had mistaken a post he wrote on bent left arm at address to mean bent left wrist. My bad.

I now believe that Brian Gay starting from Fix uses a carry-back as opposed to swing back, lagging takeaway.

But, like he did, play around with both to see which you like better. Im still going back and forth. When I get too wooden, I use a lagging takeaway, when I start losing my alignments I go back to Fix and Carry back. Heck sometimes I even resort to swinging, yes I am THAT confused.

Still sorting my way through the golf nuts candy bar.

WOW, I've debated this a lot, and was wrong EVERY time.

I'm glad I was wrong, I was trying to model my hitters pattern after Mr. Gay, now I can do it guilt free!

I saw a fella once walk a line of balls, continuously hitting Melhorne style, no stopping, while alternating Hitting and Swinging! Wish Id taped it to take a close look for a difference in release but I doubt there was much of one.

Im thinking that in the middle of the continuum they are separated by only the Throw employed. Of course in that drill you dont go much past Acquired so some of the characteristic differences at Top/End, #3 etc dont come into play.
