I like to walk my home course in the evenings with just a 7 iron in hand. Its amazing how many pars can be had.

Yes - I putt with it.

When I teach the juniors I often just carry a 8i. "Mr Smith why don't you bring your golf bag?"

"I'm too lazy."

Other kid, "You still make bogie, so why bother carrying them all!"

Im convinced that for all but the very best of golfers , scores would be lower with a bag filled with mid irons on down.

The caddies in Scotland know, they're more guide than yardage calculator, they start taking clubs out of play after the first look at their man's swing. They're frugal with strokes.......which is what its all about.

Tee shot on a par 5........."Aye , hit your six iron at the church steeple". You'd never think of such a thing in North America.
