Hi Jeff, thanks, yes i will get the book in a bit, it is 50 gbp over here, so it will be the wife's xmas gift to me.

yes it was a lame question, 'quite relevant' was kindly put

i've been reading around the forum quite a bit & hit some balls today & i've no doubt the concepts are moving me forward. I found myself thinking, roll; no-roll; reverse-roll; feeling for loaded pressure points in the hands; getting the right forearm to point out in front of the ball towards impact & hit some nice shots.

Hope we can help each other a bit

all the best, Tim.

With a 5 hcp you must already have skills that many of us only can dream about. But if TGM and this site can bring you up to the next level, you'll be a scratch player in the forseeable future I would think...

Hello Air,

What does it take to reach any of the hcp goals we might set i wonder ? Not being content with where we are ? Stubborn belief that it is possible even though we can't see how at this point ?

Playing with the best players you know is a good help for moving forward. I now play with a +1 hcp fairly regularly & his long game is completely different class to mine - so it teaches you something to play with better players, i'm on a search for striking it like he does. Though there are a few ways to skin the cat of course, a 3hcp long game & a super sharp short game might do the trick.

What do you play off & where would you see yourself in the future ?

My brother-in-law is Norweigian btw hails from Gjorvik (spelling ?)

I'm a 21 hcp'er, but have taken some lessons that will lower my hcp when spring comes - I hope and believe. I'm no spring kitten (or what it is called) with my 62 years. I play some with a man who is just as old as I am, with 13 in hcp, so I know what you are talking about.

I'm not sure what city/town you are referring to. A place called Gjøvik is well known, but I am sure there are places named Jorvik etc as well..

Yep Gjøvik is the one - anywhere near you ?

Yes age is bound to be a factor, my +1 mate is 25, which helps & my 48yo has advantages over your 62 for sure.

About 140 miles to the north. (70 miles north of Oslo).

btw i'd suggest not being too respectful of what you might think are decent hcps. From my experience, a 7/8/9 hcppr is 90% operating on a wing & a prayer & most of the time a 5 hcp player only has a rough idea what the hell he is doing. That should be an encouragement to us, because if we can truly gain control over the process we can get in front of that.

Tim,

You have a PM. Don't part with £50 until you've read it.
