Maybe my thinking is too old fashion, but I have always thought that a large part of having self confidence was having something to be confident about.
The Mental Game in Golf has three purposes:
1. In Learning, to gain over time a crystal clear understanding of the necessary Golf Stroke Mechanics. This is the Blueprint.
2. In Practice, to translate those precision Mechanics into identifiable Feels through the conscious programming of the subconsious mind. This is the process of Building.
3. In Play, to use your imagination (born of experience) to visualize the alternative shots for the situation at hand; weigh risk against reward, particularly in the light of your own capabilities; and to choose among them wisely. Then, to employ (1) a disciplined Pre-Shot Routine (with its own set of Visualizations and Feels) that will program the Computer for its essential responsibility (Execution Control) and (2) a disciplined Post-Shot Routine that will reinforce the intended Stroke; set the stage for a successful outcome on the next Stroke; and avoid the negative psychological and physical consequences of dwelling on past mistakes. This is the End Result.
These activities combine to produce an effective, efficient Golf Stroke.
A Golf Stroke you own.
A Golf Stroke you can "turn loose and trust".
"You want confidence in putting? I'll tell you how you get confidence in putting: You get confidence in putting by getting humpbacked picking the ball up out of the can."
-- Jimmy Demaret
"There is a reason why most golfers don't trust their swing. It's because their swing (including its programming) isn't trustworthy."
Practice - In September I watched Tiger make 100 3-4 footers in a row from the same spot with two hand and one hand. Stevie kept picking them out of the hole and rolling them back to TW.
just wondering, Yoda, if the speakers produce transcripts of their presentations?
If you do, would it be possible to get a copy?
I would also love to read a transcript of Pia & Lynn's presentation.
I'm sure that quite a few of the others will be fantastic too but thise two really caught my eye.

The PGA has asked the speakers for Power Point slides that will be incorporated into a seminar manual. Or, at a minimum, for 'bullet points' which they will use for the same purpose. To my knowledge, there are no transcripts.
If I write out my talk, I will post it here. But don't hold your breath: I've never been much good at 'coloring between the lines'.
If its possible to get copies of the other speakers slides that would be awesome too!
