Styles, despite the fact I should know better............Im still subject to Steering. Maybe everyone is.
Im trying to de-code it, find its pattern of multiple compensations..........the first fix is always the Delivery Line.......inside-out impact for balls played back of low point, Clubshaft. Then I fix the Clubface, with Horizontal Hinging. When the effortless compressions come back I start working on Lag , Clubhead. Then I try to forget it all and play by feel, Lag Pressure. The goal is to make the ball (which is a tyrant that inspires steering) and the club disappear and just play with Lag Pressure and the Delivery Line or the Aiming Point. It's elusive but divine.
The process is ongoing, a never ending cycle. But knowing the pattern is making the cycle way, way shorter. Knowing the ball flight laws has really helped too. What I used to ascribe to a clubhead path is now a face angle thing......making corrrections is far more "cause and effect" now. My intentional hook has never been better too. It seems amazing to me that we could all have played the game for so long with the ball flight laws backwards!
ICT, as OB said, I'm in Ireland not Scotland but its all the same, both great places to play and (mostly) friendly people everywhere you go.
OB, I hit the ball beautifully for 15 and a half holes yesterday including 2/3 sand saves
Sadly I hit a lay up 7 iron 200 yards on the 16th into a new bunker (you know the kind - where you foot disappears into the sand) and from there hit OB (not you!) had to drop into the soft sand (how do you like those eggs?) and took two more to get out. Should have hit wedge for my lay up, just hard to hit two wedges for 2nd and 3rd shots on a par 5!
Got another fried egg on 17 and didn't play 18 so well at all. Went from 2 over to 7 over in 3 holes
A great round is in there fighting to get out!
