Whereas with a non-automatic release there is a conscious triggering or "hit it now" deal. This would be done with the selected Throw. You can basically "start" your release anywhere in the downstroke . . . early or late. I'd say the more trigger delay present the more you'd want to have an automatic release. As far as the biomechanics . . . whatever throw you select I reckon you'd fire that component and the musklez related to them joints.
