How do you chip as a hitter with horizontal hinging? Do you need to roll you wrists on the backswing like a swinger?

Whenever i try to roll my wrists, i feel as though i lose my flat left wrist at impact and i flip through.

I believe i read somewhere that having the ability to chip with horizontal hinging allows for a different release and more roll on the green.
