Toms makes the same move . .. I think Els does it a little bit now too but not much in this video.

K.J. Choi and David Toms -- Hitters

K. J. Choi and David Toms are Hitters who have been taught to take their Backstroke to the Swinger's End (Hands well above Right Shoulder with the Clubshaft approaching Horizontal). In their respective videos, instead of 're-tracing' and Drag Loading (10-19-C) -- the Swinger's procedure -- each is simply establishing those alignments most compatible with their true Hitter's Pattern (and with which they are most comfortable).

In other words, they are returning to the Hitter's Top -- Hands Right Shoulder High and On Plane -- with a minimum of #2 Accumulator (Left Wristcock) Lag. Pause each video at this point and you will see the classic Hitter's alignments, including the 'high clubshaft' pointing skyward. [A comparison of these 'swings' at this point with the Ted Fort's Top would be instructive. Help, hg!]

From here, each player begins his Hitter's Drive Load (10-19-A) toward the Ball; his Hitter's Random Sweep Release (Automatic / 10-24-C); and his Hitter's Angled Hinge Action (10-10-C) through Impact and Follow-Through.

BBax (Rob Baxter) is a PGA member and also an A.I. He is one of the best teachers in New England. He has great eyes (in a "golfing way"). Not that there is anything wrong with that .

Thanks for this info, Drew. I didn't know BBax's qualifications, but am glad I now do.

Also, loved the title of your post:

We should have a separate thread on this stuff!

Great, hg. Now let's isolate Ted's frame #5 (his Top / 10-21-A / Hands shoulder high) and capture the same spot in KJ's and David's swings (their Downstroke Top / 10-21-D / Hands at Top during End downstroke). Three photos total.

Thanks!

And there you have it. Thanks, Hector!

Also, compare the Hitter's Minimum Lag (10-19-0) -- see David Toms in the thumbnail below -- with the Swinger's Maximum Lag (10-19-0) you see here:
